I got a response from the folks at Totes:

You can throw it away and buy a new one.
Or you can mail it to us for replacement.
We will need $5.00 for processing and handling.

So it looks like I'll be getting a new umbrella. Unfortunately since I'm not in Canada right now, and wont be for a bit, I'm going to wait till I go back home to send it off.
